MY STORY
A lifelong fascination with all things Oriental
My early and profound interest in the Orient – ie Near East, Central Asia and Afghanistan – led to my travelling
through and around the area from the 60’s on. My early crushes were on long dead archaeologists and explorers like
Sir Richard Burton, Alexander the Great, Sir Aurel Stein and Mortimer Wheeler.
It finally led to a degree in archaeology, specialising in Limited Release Archaeological Art anything east of Greece and west of China. It also
translated into my choice of home décor, clothes, jewellery and my art, chiefly in the form of clay.
The first piece of Archaeological Art I made was a multi module construction of the Basilica in Moscow, comprising six domed canisters
and a peak-roofed butter dish entrance. Domes made me go weak at the knees. A parallel fascination with
the architectural origins of so much of “western” architecture has meant that many of the buildings have a slightly
esoteric back story.
