KS 48 /1 Minaret briefly left standing from destruction of the Great Omari Mosque in Gaza. 2025. Earthenware in 3 colour clays. Unglazed.

History
The mosque was built on the site of a Philistine temple to Dagon in the Bronze Age, which had been succeeded by Greek, Roman, Christian, Byzantine and Islamic sacred buildings. Originally built in the 7th century, it was the largest and oldest mosque in Gaza until its complete destruction in December 2023.
